UD Research Facts & Figures
The University of Delaware is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a research university with very high research activity, a designation accorded to fewer than three percent of the more than 4,200 degree-granting institutions in the United States.
Proposal Submission History
More than 1,000 research proposals are processed annually by the UD Research Office. Between 400 and 500 proposals typically are funded each year by external sources, including the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and other agencies.

In fiscal year 2007, UD Research and Graduate Studies received 34 invention disclosures, filed 28 provisional patent applications and 29 utility applications, issued 10 patents, and signed 12 licenses.
